Panel Discussion on SDG-16, Peace, Justice, & Strong Institutions

On September 23, 2023, Thinkers’ Tribe in collaboration with Transparency International, Pakistan organized a Panel Discussion on SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, at Greenwich University, Karachi. The Panelists included Mr. Kashif Ali, Transparency International, Mr. Ahmed Hassan, UNDP, Ms. Saima Khuhro, Kingdom of Numidia, Ms. Sabeena Abbasi Development Expert, and Mr. Ali Jillani, Karachi Research Chair, moderated by Ms. Mubashira Abid Life Coach. The event reviewed the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals in Pakistan with a specific focus on democratization and governance reforms. The panel discussed the significance of SDG 16 as a catalyst for the 2030 Agenda; its critical role in the advancing peace & security at the national and global levels; the critical need to combat corruption; and the promotion of transparency and accountability as the hallmarks of democratic governance. The panel also discussed the potential of SDG 16+ reckoning a broader conceptualization that considers multilateral governance beyond national borders to enact reforms at the regional and global levels. The panel generated actionable recommendations to enhance development outcomes in Pakistan through policy coherence for Sustainable Development.
