Greenwich University’s Achievements - Media Meetup

Karachi, July 07, 2023: The Greenwich University Journalists Association (GUJA) meet-up was arranged on July 7, 2023, at Greenwich University Karachi. The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The Vice-Chancellor Greenwich University, Ms. Seema Mughal expressed her gratitude towards the guests and briefly talked about the remarkable achievements of Greenwich University, explicitly mentioning the proud moment of Greenwich being recognized in the prestigious Times Higher Education ranking as one of the top institutions in Pakistan and being ranked no 61 in the world specifically in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 8. This remarkable accomplishment she added is a testament to the collective dedication, hard work, and relentless pursuit of excellence by the faculty, staff, and students of Greenwich University. Greenwich University’s Student Provost and President GUJA, Mr. Naveed Mughal exhibited his gratitude by giving a very warm welcome to all the talented and passionate individuals from the media industry who are dedicated to making a mark in the field of journalism. Director QEC, Mr. Rab Nawaz, highlighted the aims and objectives of the meetup and appreciated the presence and invaluable contribution of journalists to the development of young minds. He said that the knowledge, experiences, and guidance will inspire them to think critically, explore new avenues, and shape their journalistic careers with a sense of purpose and responsibility. Mr. Ali Jilani, Head of Diplomatic Affairs Greenwich University also spoke about the recent remarkable achievement of Greenwich University being the only Pakistani University ranked in the Global Top 100 of Times Higher Education’s Impact Ranking 2023. He said that this ranking serves as a reminder of the responsibility Greenwich University carries as an institution of higher learning. It is a call to action, urging us to continuously strive for improvement, to push the boundaries of knowledge, and to make a lasting impact on society. Mr. Rohail Intekhab, Head of Media and Corporate Affairs, highlighted Greenwich University’s student Waqar Haider Zaidi's achievement, who received the Pride of Performance Award as the Winner of the National Declamation Contest 2023. He further encouraged the guests to actively engage with the students of Greenwich University, share their experiences, and provide guidance on navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. He emphasized that mentorship can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these aspiring journalists and empower them to become agents of change in their communities and beyond. The program ended with a Hi-Tea which was served to all the participants of the program.
