From classroom concepts to community impact. Students from the Civics and Community Engagement course visited Sahara Village, stepping beyond textbooks to experience the realities of grassroots community life firsthand. The visit gave students the opportunity to engage directly with the local community — understanding social structures, everyday challenges, and the spirit of civic responsibility that holds communities together. It was a powerful reminder that active citizenship begins with listening, learning and connecting with people. Through observation and interaction, students deepened their understanding of civic engagement, social responsibility and the role individuals play in building stronger, more connected communities.
Greenwich University continues to host programmes that connect learning with culture, industry and community. Explore more campus stories from the News & Events hub.
