A Journey Towards Greater Accessibility and Inclusion

We are learning, listening, adapting, and taking meaningful steps towards a more accessible, equitable, and inclusive university.

About ODEI

Building an Inclusive Greenwich

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI) supports Greenwich University’s journey towards a more accessible, equitable and inclusive campus — a journey built through listening, learning and continuous improvement.

Inclusion is not a finished project. It requires ongoing reflection, collaboration and a willingness to strengthen how we teach, serve and live together.

Every conversation, experience and initiative contributes to progress. Inclusion is a shared responsibility across students, faculty, staff and leadership.

Through meaningful engagement with different cultures, abilities, perspectives and lived experiences, we help prepare students to live and work in diverse communities.

Five Pathways to Inclusion

One journey. Five connected routes.

From listening and learning through accessibility, awareness, belonging, advocacy and global engagement — then onward as we keep growing together.

  1. Start

    Listening and Learning

The journey begins with attention — hearing community needs, recognising barriers, and staying open to change.

  2. Pathway 01

    Accessibility

Reducing physical, digital, academic and communication barriers before they become obstacles.

We work to improve environments across the University, support reasonable accommodations, and promote inclusive design that benefits everyone.

  3. Pathway 02

    Awareness & Education

Building understanding through training, dialogue, campaigns and respectful communication.

We encourage the community to broaden perspectives, challenge assumptions, and develop the skills needed for inclusive environments.

  4. Pathway 03

    Belonging

Creating a campus where people feel welcomed, respected, heard, valued and able to participate.

True inclusion goes beyond access — it cultivates a culture where diversity is recognised as a strength that enriches learning.

  5. Pathway 04

    Advocacy

Identifying barriers, supporting accommodations, strengthening practices and advancing equitable opportunity.

We work with students, faculty, staff and leadership to contribute to policies and practices that promote accessibility and inclusion across the University.

    GGI Advocate ProgrammeDeveloping

A student advocacy initiative under development. Details will be published here as the programme is finalised.

  6. Pathway 05

    Coexistence & Global Engagement

Cultural diplomacy, partnerships, interfaith dialogue and cross-cultural engagement.

These experiences help develop globally minded graduates who can communicate across differences and contribute positively to an interconnected world.

  7. Continues

    Growing Together

The journey continues. We keep listening, learning, adapting and improving — without treating inclusion as a finished destination.

Our commitment is not to claim that we have achieved perfect inclusion, but to ensure that we continue moving forward. As our University evolves, so will our understanding, our practices, and our commitment. We will continue to listen, learn, adapt, and improve — working together with our community to create a campus that is increasingly accessible, equitable, and inclusive for all.
